(」・ω・)」呜!(/・ω・)/哈! 1 2 Fanclub is about Rin and Gumi learning Chinese so that they can go and visit their idols in Hong Kong/Taiwan. I bet they'd be overjoyed to actually go though, and eat all the food they can. While the background is "supposed" to be Hong Kong, they don't actually have many open air hawker centers now, so I actually based it on the ones here in Malaysia. shhhhh 20% of our population has roots in China this is still totally legit okay
oh hey tigera i am writing a critique awyiss anyways!!
For me, this is one of your best pieces yet! The attention to detail is stunning, and the colours truly give off both the "outdoor-market" vibe, and the feeling of bright lights and lamps all around. Details like the literal "smokiness" of their food and the many different stalls draw you into the scene and really get you involved in it. The perspective is stunning as well, and helps add to the piece's impact.
Of course, there is always room for improvement! One thing I noticed is the trees in the background. At first I thought they were crowds of people, or maybe smoke! Maybe if you made them a bit darker/ a bit cooler to stand out from the masses of people it would be easier to see the difference. A little thing is the yellow dots around the lamps. Are they stars? Or do they represent the glowing of the lamp? I'm sticking with the latter, but they seem a little out of place. (Obviously they aren't sparks or else all those lanterns would be burning right?) Lastly, your colouring is amazing, and they fit well together, but I notice the lack of texture here! Considering your style, too much texture would probably bring things into the Uncanny Valley, so subtlety is key. I would love to see the the bowls, for example, have a shine on them to show if they are plastic or porcelain, and maybe some details on the stalls to show what they are made of! (wood, metal, plastic?? etc...) Their clothes also give off a "plastic-y" feel after looking at them for very long, so maybe you could add a bit of "roughness" to make the feeling of cloth stand out. (But do remember subtlety!!! Nothings worse than a great piece of artwork ruined by textures distracting from the form and shape uvu;; )
However, these are just suggestions! This piece is great as it is! I do hope that you can try out some new things, so that your art can become even better :^)
Pretty awesome. I really love all the background ! It's luminous ! Also they are so cutes in panda hoodie :3 I like the angle of this painting, and the scene is wonderful. Rin !! Rin is so adorable ! Om nom nom ! The painting technique is very cool, all the details ! ALL DAT D-TAILS !! QAQ it's too wonderful for me, I also really like the faces, cute blush and Gumi's eyes... they are... SUGOI *_*
