Oh ok... Just a thought XD I think your art is so much better then most of the professional illustrators... :) I can totally see your art in one of these famous children book...

God... off topic sorry, so may I ask how many layers do you usually use for one drawing? They are all transparent... and fluffy... and detailed...

Gorgeous pieces of work :icondroolplz:

lmao, thank you! I think I still have a long way to go though!!

Normally for most things I use 1 for the lines and one for the colors

For the transparent things though I usually do each part separately. It can be anywhere from 5 layers to 30 haha, it really depends

Lol'd at the TL;DR. :D

I don't like being repetitive, but I must agree: a video tutorial might do the trick. First of all, it isn't a method or detailed explanation, so you won't be saying wrong things, just letting people observe. I tend not to color using a specific technique too, it solely depends on my mood and the feeling of the picture. But through videos people might capture one of two useful hints your gestures provide. x)

You probably feel like me: "NO WAY, I'M TOO NOOB TO TEACH SOMEONE! _", but from what I see of your painting and color treating, you are surely good giving atmosphere to a piece. If the only thing stopping you is lack of confidence, hold no longer! If you don't want to for any other reason, then people can wait. 8D

;D Mission accomplished.

Hahahaha not at all. After reading all the comments I think it's the best solution too. :la:

Yes. That. How I color depends on my mood and what I want the picture to say. I don't really understand why most have the impression that everyone colors with a certain pre-made formula...like instant noodles and fast food, have we really fallen so low?

Aaaaahhh yes. Exactly that. -shrugs- I don't know how to explain it myself really. Self-confidence issues should sum it up quite nicely. :dummy:

But thank you.

Hoho, about the instant noodles, we can see from many tutorials why people think there is a formula. I always throw up when some "painting guide" tells me to set a brush to 20% opacity with 80% flow and #FF0F28 color. This usually come from people who also don't know exactly how to teach and end up by telling other people their exact parameters.

And YAY, sounds like we'll have a video after all! nn

Yeah, when I started, I faithfully followed their instructions..only to realize they are usually incredibly UNdetailed on the more important parts. Most of the time, tutorials are remarkably detailed on what they use, but not how and why they use them. It's like there are huge gaps of information missing, like "Wait, hold up, how did you go from step a to step b? ヾ(A`)ノ゚" "Why did you do that?"

I guess..that is also under reason I've never wanted to make a tutorial. ;D

I hope to make it soon-ish, before classes start for me and I go back to coloring in bits and pieces of my spare time. :la:

If words can't explain it, a speedpaint video will, as someone has said here.

Anyways, I like what you said about how to color; essentially, you're playing with your imagination. Quite understandable, considering you're still a young artist and tending to experiment things. Even some professional artists don't have any trademark style. :D

"...and how much time they are willing to invest into it." Well, Sloth is my sin, so... :icontearplz:

May I ask why are you so sexy? :eyes:

Actually, I knew you were going to answer something like this, which is totally understandable!
I remember I used to think every artist had somesort of guide to color in a few simple steps, until I started realizing that it wasn't like it, some artists are very disorganized when it comes to colouring, which doesn't make the drawing any less amazing! fksdlf (you're an example <3)
EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN STYLE FOR EVERYTHING and that's something I now understand ;_;

HOWEVER, SOMEDAY, WHEN I STOP BEING LAZY, I WILL BE LIKE YOU

You know what you should do?... Make a speedpaint video! :D (Not of you painting fast, but of you painting, and then you speed up the video of course :P )
This way we'll be able to take some of your work process with us, without completely copying you! :D

1) Not at all, just get a program like camstudio (or any other screen recording tool), and begin drawing like normal
2) when you're finished, take it to a movie editor, and set up the speed to you desired level
3) finally upload it to dA or youtube or something else
4) ????
5) Profit!

...or something like that xD

Yeah, a video seems to be the best solution for now, so I'll see how it goes. /hasnevermadeavideo OTL

:iconhurrhurrplz: Tiger, I like your thinking. It really annoys the heck out of me when some newbie makes a really bad coloring tutorial. They think they're all important and that just HAVE to tell others how to color like them. But you're not one of them, you're you.
I agree with the rest of your words, and EEEEEEEEEEE...DOES THIS MEAN I CAN ASK QUESTIONS???

OKAY HERE I GO:
What program do you use to make gifs and animations?
How many corrections does it take before you're finally satisfied with a sketch?
When did you start drawing in this current style and why?

Most of the time though, those kind of tutorials make me want to punch people who think the burn tool is something to be abused. as;jdklafjs;kldfaj;lskdf

1. I draw all the frames in SAI by hand, then animate in photoshop. I don't like drawing directly in photoshop lmao. I love those..books where you'd flip the pages really fast and the pictures would appear to move; so that's actually also how I plan the frames. (it's a dinosaur method, I bet there are lots of fancy new techiniques now..)

2. the limit does not exist A lot. and I mean A LOT. It does depend though, sometimes I have a very clear idea of what to draw, and that only takes a layer or two. Other times I doodle, I resize, I flip the canvas over and over and after 20 layers I'm still not happy..

3. I didn't seriously start drawing until 2009. Sure I always doodled as a kid (I think I started at 10 lmao), but they were never anything serious. I actually got into digital painting quite late, since I didn't manage to get a tablet until the end of 2009.
When I started digital though, I knew from the get-go I wanted to paint in a well, painterly style. I don't like digital art that looks, well, blatantly digital. You know, works that make you stop and go, eh, did a human really make this? I'm not saying that "style" is bad, (in fact there are many artists I respect who draw that way), I'm just not fond of it. I like paintings that make you wonder if it's digital or traditional, and even after you find out, you're still not entirely convinced. This has probably something to do with the fact I started out with traditional media, but I think my reply is ridiculously long already. ;D

:iconimhorrifiedplz: Exactly...there's much more frustration...

:la: It's simple and understandable! I'm glad that there's an easy way to animate!

:icontearplz: shet, I feel your pain bro....asdk;ajskdaskdladsasd
:iconrlytearplz: But it's somewhat gratifying to know that we all have to keep adjusting our sketches to suit our tastes.

LOL, I WOULD LOVE TO LEARN MORE...BUT OKAY...IF YOU WANNA KEEP IT SHORT!!! :iconepiclaplz: I see! So there is meaning to your style! I am very much surprised and overjoyed that you've decided this from the beginning!

;w; What makes it even worse is that with such tutorials, there are comments like, "I found this really helpful thank you could you make more?" and it makes me go "NO WAIT STOP WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING THIS NO DONT FOLLOW IT"

The idiots guide to animating. I'd like to learn how to use flash though..

:iconbrohugplz: /sobs I rarely have a sketch I like and since I don't follow it 100% anyway it doesn't matter ;aksjdklafjs;ldjafsf

Hahahahaha what should I elaborate more about? :icondesiremeplz:
Ahhhhhh it wasn't something I was too fussed about really. Style (IMO) isn't that important. There was a time where I was all mad about finding my own ~*STYLE*~ but you can't really stylize if you don't know what you're doing in the first place (e.g. drawing only animu, I learned this the hard way lol)
I suppose, if finding a style of your own bothers you...well, try not to mind so much? :la: It'll come naturally, with plenty of practice../LAZY

IF ONLY I FOLLOW MY OWN ADVICE PLEASE IGNORE ME LOL

;A; Yeah, flash is nice too, no? But wtf the coding and the layers...just...whut.:iconwhutplz:

:icontearplz: I found this really nicee style that looks sobeautiful I wanna try it...it's much much much more beautiful than my current style(that can naturally) and dang I'm confused whether to go for the new one I like or stay with the old one I'm not really sure anymore :iconlazycryplz:

I'M SURE FLASH GETS EASIER

I THINK /CRAIZ

I think, if you like it, then you should go for it. There's no right and wrong in art, so just do what makes you happy. ;D
(I don't earn a living from art, so I can say thing like that and not starve lmao ;D )

Hahahahaha thank you, but I guess "style" is always changing and whatnot; so I'm just glad I seem to be on a path a like. :la:
